Queuing Theoretic Approach to Modeling and Simulation of Biological Networks Harsha K Rajasimha Virginia Tech. Queuing theory is the study of the phenomena of standing, waiting, and serving. Any system in which arrivals place demands upon a finite capacity resource may be termed a queueing system (Kleinrock). The talk will cover the basics of queuing theory and possible candidate problem areas where queuing theory can be applied. This will include the different types of queuing systems, what are the kinds of problems that a queuing system helps us to solve and how queuing systems will be useful to a biologist.
