With more than 23 years of journalism experience to draw from, Renay San Miguel is a news anchor for CNN Headline News based in CNN's headquarters in Atlanta. San Miguel also provides technology updates for Headline News and CNN/U.S. in addition to serving as a contributor to the science and technology series Next@CNN, which airs on CNN/U.S. on the weekends.

San Miguel recently covered the 2002 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where he filed reports for CNN, CNN Headline News, CNNfn and CNN International. His reporting included an interview with Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.

San Miguel joined the network in September 2001 from CBS News and CBS Marketwatch, where he served as a reporter covering technology and the high tech business industry. From 1997-2000 he was with CNBC, where he served as a correspondent specializing in technology and the Internet. San Miguel also covered NASDAQ and financial segments for CNBC. Before his work at CNBC, he was with ABC affiliate WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas. During his tenure with WFAA-TV, San Miguel co-anchored the morning and noon weekday newscasts and also reported on politics and education. In addition, he helped to create La Vida, a half-hour Sunday Hispanic newsmagazine show for the affiliate, for which he hosted and served as managing editor and reporter.

San Miguel has received several awards including a Heartland Emmy Award and a University of Maryland Casey Award for his work on documentaries involving television violence and welfare reform.

San Miguel also has served as an anchor and reporter for stations in San Francisco, Austin, and San Angelo, Texas. Before beginning his broadcast journalism career, San Miguel was a reporter and columnist for the San Angelo Standard-Time for six years.

San Miguel attended Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, which in 2000 named him a Distinguished Alumni.
