Sophia Choi

Sophia Choi is a primetime news anchor for CNN Headline News, the "real news; real fast" network designed especially for viewers who need current information to comply with their urgent schedules. Based in CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta, Choi joined the network in October 2001.

Before joining CNN, Choi co-hosted CBS 2 Morning Show at CBS Los Angeles affiliate KCBS-TV. During her tenure at KCBS, Choi created, wrote, produced and served as host of three weekly Hometown Hero story segments that profiled citizens in Los Angeles County who were making positive differences in their communities. She also created, produced and wrote the station's Trends 2 Watch segments that focused on the latest trends in multiple areas including entertainment, food and fashion. Choi contributed investigative reports to the special assignment unit of the station and received a State Associated Press Award for her series, Dirty Downloading, where she reported undercover as a 13-year old boy, to expose sexual predators on the Internet. Choi was also nominated for both a National Associated Press Award and an Emmy Award for her overall series reporting.

Before joining KCBS-TV, Choi was the weekend morning news anchor and general assignment reporter at WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Ala. Prior to that, she was a general assignment reporter at WSET-TV in Lynchburg, Va. Choi began her career at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo. where she anchored the morning news cut-in segments.

Choi earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri -Columbia.
