New Report from Donna Nelson on Faculty Development

Donna Nelson provides a National Analysis of Minority Science and Engineering Faculties at Research Universities. "The first national and most comprehensive demographic analysis to date of tenured and tenure track faculty in the top 100 departments of science and engineering disciplines shows that minorities and women are significantly underrepresented. There are relatively few tenured and tenure-track underrepresented minority (URM) faculty in these research university departments, even though a growing number and percentage of minorities are completing their Ph.D.s. Qualified minorities are not going to faculties of many science and engineering disciplines." To read more, click here.

National Science Foundation ADVANCE Program

The goal of the ADVANCE Program is to increase the participation of women in the scientific and engineering workforce through the increased representation and advancement of women in academic scientific and engineering careers. To meet this goal, the ADVANCE Program provides opportunities for both individuals and organizations: Fellows Awards, Institutional Transformation Awards and Leadership Awards. With each of the three types of ADVANCE awards, NSF seeks to support new approaches to improving the climate for women in U.S. academic institutions and to facilitate women's advancement to the highest ranks of academic leadership. Creative approaches to realize the goal of the program are sought from women and men. Members of underrepresented minority groups and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
